If you received a Traffic Ticket in the Village of Whitehall and you have questions, you're in the right place.  Below we have listed a few helpful hints to assist you in submitting your ticket to the Court System.

THE FRONT OF YOUR TRAFFIC TICKET

The Front of your Traffic Ticket will look similar to the one to the right.  On the top portion of the ticket you will see your personal information, your license information, and the information about the vehicle you were driving.  In the Center of the Ticket, you will find the information about the date, time, and location of the Violation you were issued the Ticket for.  The Officer's name, badge number, and signature are also in this location.  The Court Appearance information is listed on the lower portion of the ticket (Shown in the Sample in RED ink).  The Court Address, Date and Time you are due to appear is shown here.  You must appear in court if the Traffic Ticket was issued for a Misdemeanor - You cannot handle it by mail.

THE BACK OF YOUR TICKET

To Plead Not Guilty:
Read Part "B" in its entirety.  If you are not in agreement with the reason you were issued the ticket and wish to contest the summons, this is the selection for you.  Check the "Yes or No" box Under the Supporting Deposition Request.  A Supporting Deposition is a form completed by the Officer who issued you the ticket.  Its re-iterates the circumstances you were issued the ticket for, and the Officer's observations at the time of the violation.  If you check "Yes" the Supporting Deposition will be mailed to you by the Officer, before your court date.  If you check "No" no action will be taken.  Complete the remainder of Part "B" entering your mailing address and signature.  When Part "B" is complete, cross out Part "A" (As shown in the Diagram) and send the completed Ticket to the Court listed on the front.  It is suggested you mail it to the court Registered or Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested, or by First Class Mail.  After you submit your not guilty plea to the Court, you will receive a notice in return from the court listing your Trial Date and Time.
